NYC SHRM Enjoys Islanders Preseason Action at UBS Arena

On September 27th, 2024, members of the NYC SHRM chapter came together for an exciting night of hockey and professional networking, joining the New York Islanders at UBS Arena for their preseason matchup against the New Jersey Devils. From thrilling game highlights to invaluable opportunities to connect, the event was a perfect blend of fun and professional growth for the HR community.

As one of the largest and most active SHRM chapters in the country, NYC SHRM is dedicated to advancing the human resources profession by providing its members with access to cutting-edge educational opportunities, industry resources, and high-quality networking events. The organization offers HR professionals a platform to build relationships, share knowledge, and enhance their skills, which was well-reflected in this special outing.

From the moment NYC SHRM members arrived at UBS Arena, we were treated to an exclusive VIP experience. Each attendee received a complimentary Islanders hat, kicking off the evening with team spirit. The fun continued in the luxurious DIME Club, where SHRM members enjoyed a selection of gourmet food and beverages. This game-time setting provided the perfect backdrop for members to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen professional relationships.

The game itself was packed with action. Frederick Carlstrom and Kyle Malan displayed the Islanders’ offensive depth with early goals, while captain Bo Horvat wowed the crowd with a blistering one-timer on a power play to extend the home team’s lead. Although the Devils’ Liam Foody answered with a goal, the Islanders kept up their momentum, with Oliver Wahlstrom sealing the game with a high shot past the Devils’ goalie, resulting in a 5-1 victory. Islanders’ defense and goaltending kept the Devils’ scoring chances at bay, securing a commanding win for the home team.

Beyond the excitement on the ice, NYC SHRM members took full advantage of the event’s networking opportunities.
